 Signal mirrors use high intensity lights to change ordinary exterior rearview mirrors into safety features that command attention. When a turn signal is activated, a flashing chevron appears in the corresponding side mirror to alert drivers in the blind spots around and behind your vehicle. The mirrors operate as regular rearview mirrors whether the turn signals are activated or not. LED lamps which illuminate 1/5 of a second faster than conventional incandescent tail lights. This provides drivers in the blind spot of the Signal mirror equipped vehicle an additional 17 feet of reaction distance when traveling at 65 m.p.h. Thus, unlike other accessories that soften an accident, Ford Signal mirrors actually may help prevent one. Signal mirrors are backed by a three year limited warranty. Now you can include a braking signal, strobing reverse, alarm tick, and fourth door open alert. The module can be added to an existing Signal Mirror installation or can be included with a new installation. Each of the features on the module can be activated or left inactive. The Multi Function Module is designed to be mounted underneath the dashboard or behind the side floor kick plate. In addition to the standard turn signal function, the Multifunction Module adds the four following features:
When a vehicle is in reverse gear the strobing reverse alert will appear as rapidly flashing chevrons in both rearview mirrors. This makes it evident to surrounding drivers and pedestrians that the vehicle is backing up.
When the brakes are applied this feature provides a steady on lighted chevron in both rearview mirrors. If a turn signal is being used at the same time as the brakes, a flashing chevron will appear only in the corresponding side mirror and the brake signal remains "steady on" in the opposite mirror.
A chevron signal flashes quickly in both mirrors when the fourth door is open or can be connected so when any door is open the chevrons flash. This feature is particularly important for minivans where children may jump into the roadway from the door behind the driver.
A single rapid chevron signal flashes every five seconds in both rearview mirrors when this feature is activated. The alarm tick is designed to work either with a vehicle's existing alarm system or can simulate one.

Heated mirrors offer additional safety by clearing mirrors from frost, snow or condensation to allow a driver a clear view and thus a safer driving experience. The H-MOD upgrade module allows a vehicle that came with unheated mirrors from the factory to now include the heater option. This kit is used in conjunction with heated SignalŪ mirrors. The H-MOD has a switch that is flipped by the driver to activate the heaters. The switch can be mounted on the dashboard for easy access. When the H-MOD switch is activated, it lights up and a timer begins. After ten minutes the heater automatically shuts off and the lighted switch flashes. If extra heating is needed, the heater can be reactivated for an additional ten minute timed session.
